St. Francis has partnered with the NC State Fair's Peace Booth for years! Each fair, our parish takes on a half-day to staff the booth, drawing individuals in and interacting with fair-goers. This years theme is "Picture Peace!" Volunteers will be asked to serve a two-hour shift on Friday, October 18th, with shifts starting at 9am.
There are 3 shifts to cover and we need 2 volunteers for each shift! See how to sign-up below.

Peace Booth Location at Fair: Educational Building (indoors); 1025 Blue Ridge Rd, Raleigh, NC 27607

Volunteer Responsibilities:
Volunteers who run the booth for a two-hour shift will handle a number of items at the booth, ranging from handing out Faith Statements, asking fair-goers to sign this year's Peace Petition, operating a spinning wheel on various peace topics, and providing coloring packets for youth. Volunteer Orientation:
Volunteers MUST attend an orientation for The Peace Booth before the Fair. This orientation will also be how you will obtain your free entry ticket to the fair!
Orientation Location: Community United Church of Christ, 814 Dixie Trail, Raleigh, NC 27607
Dates (pick one): October 14th, or October 15th
Time: 7pm-8:30pm
How Do I Sign Up?
Please email JaVon Hansknecht, the Director of Justice & Peace, if you are interested in volunteering and let him know which shift you would like to cover! He will then connect you with Patrick O'Neill, the Peace Booth Coordinator for the State Fair.

Q: Will a St. Francis staff member be there?
A: Yes, JaVon Hansknecht will be present for the first 2 shifts of the day.
Q: Can more than two people run a shift?
A: Yes!
Q: Can I sign a group up to operate the booth during a shift?
A: Yes!
Q: What is the age limit for running the booth?
A: We ask volunteers at least be 18 if volunteering on their own. If a parent or guardian will be present, those under 18 can join as well!
Q: Do I need to go to the orientation?
A: Yes! This is how you get your free entry ticket!
Q: Where do I park? Should I arrive before my shift starts? Who do I contact day of?
A: All questions will be answered at the orientation!
